What the current is for

Lightning is for amounts that should feel ordinary. A sat stream to a writer. A machine-to-machine ping. A cross-border tip that should not wait for a bank window. When it works, nobody writes a think piece. That is the point. Payments that need a parade are not yet payments.

The plug stays honest about the craft. You still have to think about inbound liquidity if you receive. You still have to back up a seed. You still have to know the difference between a custodial balance and a channel you control. Those are shop rules, the same way you do not leave a live iron on a cream ticket.

How this sits next to the hash

Miners secure the drawer. Lightning borrows that security and spends it in smaller motions. The two jobs do not compete. A shop that only talks about price forgets both. A shop that only talks about channels forgets the hash that makes a channel worth opening.
